Season has started

The Schedule is as follows:

8/28 v. St. Stephens...3:00 at GT Bray

Fundraiser runs from 9/1 to 9/8.  We are selling T-Shirts, etc.  payment is due when order is submitted.   Each swimmer is asked to sell a minimum of 3 items.  Swimmers who do not sell the minimum 3 items will be assessed an additional $10 to their activity fee of $15.

Due to some generous benefactors, our costs have been substantially lowered.  Therefore, the activity fee for swimming will be $15.  You may erase $5 by selling a total of 5 or more items in the fundraiser and erase an additional $5 by helping with the car parking during the football game.  That date is October 3rd.  As in the past, we will work with the Volleyball team.  After parking, many of the swimmers attend the game.  That would make everyone responsible for a maximum of $5.  This seems extremely fair. 

So activity fee breakdown is:
$25...
$10 waved for selling minimum of 3 items in fundraiser.
$5 additionally, waved for selling 5 or more items in fundraiser.
$5 waved for participation in car parking on October 3rd.
Student responsible for final $5...
All fees due October 6th.   Any unpaid fees will be considered student debt.  Debt must be paid to participate in school activities.

I know that several of you have most of your paperwork turned in.  Reminder:  If you missing anything and it is not turned in today (Friday Aug. 15), you will NOT be able to practice on Monday. 

Monday's practice at GT Bray from 3 to 4:30.  Tuesday 3 to 4:30.  Wednesday - Friday we will be going 3 to 5.   BE SURE TO BRING A WATER BOTTLE!  Also, remember that I cannot control the weather and if it begins to storm and we are out of the pool, practice may end early.  Have a plan in case this happens.

There will a parent meeting after practice on Aug. 25.  It will be brief and will explain the season, the activity fee, fundraisers, costs, volunteering etc.  I will give more information on that next week.

Practice

I will be at the pool tomorrow at 3:00.  If anyone is interested in working out for an hour or so, please feel free to come by.  YOU MUST HAVE ALL PAPERWORK turned in to Coach Brady.
Regular practice will begin August 18th.

Girls must have a one piece bathing suit and cap.  Boys should have jammers or at the least swim trunks with a tight drawstring.  NO gym shorts.  Goggles are not required but will be helpful.  If you have a kickboard, please bring it also.  

If  you know of other swimmers that are ready, but may not see this post, please let them know we are ready to go.

Get Ready for a Great Season

It's now the last day of July... Are you getting ready for the swim team season?

We will begin full practice on August 18...3 - 5 at GT Bray pool.  You MUST have all paperwork completed to get into the pool.  This includes physical, insurance, residency, birth certificate (if needed), parent permission, and all other forms as required.  Mr. Brady will have forms if needed.  You MAY NOT practice the day you turn in the forms.  It may take up to 48 hours for the forms to be processed.  Please do not wait until the last minute.

I will check with GT Bray and we may have some informal practices the week of Aug. 11.  More information on that to follow.

Our first meet against St. Stephens is the last week in August so it is imperative that we are ready to go the first day of school.

There will be an activity fee to cover expenses that must be paid within the first week.  It will be 40 to 45 dollars.  I'm checking on prices and will have a final total on the 18th.

Introduction

Season may begin on Aug. 4.  The actual start date will be announced later.

ALL athletes must have ALL paperwork completed BEFORE practice begins.  Please make August 4 your deadline.   Paperwork is available in the office from Mr. Brady.

There will be an open house/meeting of parents and athletes over the summer.  Watch this BlogSpot for important details.

Costs for swimming include (but are not limited to):  insurance (estimated $40 - 60),  activity fee (estimated $40 to 50), you will need a practice suit - one piece for girl's, jammers for boys, a cap and goggles.  Uniform suit and cap will be provided but swimmers are responsible for replacement if lost or damaged during season...ALSO. swimmer will incur cost of suit if they quit before the end of the season.

Physicals:  ALL athletes must have a physical before beginning practice or tryouts. 
SPECIAL:  July 24 and 26.  Healthsource Chiropractic will offer $20 physicals...with an appointment and parent present.   They will then donate the $20 back to Bayshore athletics.

Over the summer...Try to swim at least a couple times a week.  If you can swim in a 25 yd pool, try doing about 1000 yds a workout.  That is 40 laps.  You can (and should) mix swimming, kicking, sprinting, and then several laps without stopping.  The more you do over the summer, the less pain you will be in when we start.

Practice will be at GT Bray on 51st. St. W.  You are responsible for transportation to and from practice as well as meets.
